Longlands Camping

Longlands Farm is set in the beautiful Essex countryside on the periphery of Great Leighs, near Chelmsford in Essex.

This former pig farm is set in approximately 6 acres, with mature hedgerow boundaries, offering a tranquil and private space for our guests.

We offer a camping space for members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club. These pitches are set on grass, within a 3 acre paddock with wildflower meadow in the summer months. Families are welcome.

We are open from April to October, dependent of course on the ground conditions.

The facilities include electrical hookups, a small washroom, washing up area, and a shower. New for 2025 we have two super pitches with hardstanding, water and power.

Our local pub “The Castle” is a 5 minute safe walk on a pavement and is said to be in the oldest Inn in the UK. Recently under new ownership it receives some great reviews. The village store and post office is adjacent.

Those planning to attend events at the Chelmsford City Race Course should note that it is possible to walk to the venue from Longlands.

The campsite is a two minute walk from the nature reserve. This was a gift to the community from a local landowner with the aim of preserving the woodland and associated wildlife.

It can be reached by footpath from our back gate, and is absolutely ideal for campers with dogs, and those that love a woodland walk.

The footpaths also head to Fuller Street and the Square and Compasses gastro pub.

For Guide and Scout groups only, we offer a camping field set in our Orchard. This area has been set out by the owner who is a Guide unit leader of more than 30 years’ experience, so you can expect it to be a good fit for your group. There is a small washroom with a shower, washing up area and adjacent WC waste disposal. Your group will have exclusive use of the site during your stay.

The site is private and secure behind locked gates, making it ideal for lone travellers.

ADVANCE BOOKING IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES.
